My Process As A Musician
Making music began as an intuitive process, during which I experimented with various chord progressions and vocal styles.
Despite having a close relationship with music throughout my entire life, my journey began at Live! Modern School of Music in 2017, where I joined an R&B/Jazz band. Through this outlet, I got to gig with musicians my age around Miami until 2019. At Live!, I grew to love jazz, and discovered my greatest musical aspirations through artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote and Snarky Puppy.
When I was 14, I enrolled at New World School of The Arts in the classical voice program. Around this time, I began to look at music from a technical point of view in a way I could not before. Understanding the vocal techniques of classical singing and taking music theory courses throughout high school have helped me appreciate the detailed process involved in making music.
Before this, all I had was a vision, but learning these fundamentals gave me a structure, which inspired me to take my passion for music to the next level.
I developed strategies to propel my voice on social media to make connections and began frequently posting on an Instagram account devoted to my music (@pierasings). Whether it was original songs, freestyles, or covers, I made sure to produce content that would hopefully be engaging to my audience.
On the last day of my freshman year of high school, I posted a cover of "NOBODY FALLS" by Duckwrth, an artist I had been looking up to since I was 13. Miraculously, he had contacted me within the hour.
I received a notification saying Duckwrth had posted my cover to his page and a private message saying he was interested in my musical journey.
It was surreal. My post had gotten enough traction that Instagram paid me, which funds I then used to create promotions for my videos. Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of connecting with incredible musicians like Mr Hudson, Nick Hakim, Nasri Atweh, Micro TDH, and producers like Rafa Vergara and Eduardo Stambury.
